Sourcing industrial equipment in Nigeria is rarely about finding a supplier — it is about finding one that can quote your exact specification, prove certification, and deliver at a landed cost you can plan around. This guide lays out how the market works and how to run a procurement process that returns accurate, comparable quotes.
What "industrial equipment" covers
Most industrial and oil & gas requisitions in Nigeria fall into a handful of families. At FirstSupply.ng these map directly to our catalog:
- Valves & flow control — ball, gate, globe, butterfly, control and relief valves, actuators and couplings.
- Instrumentation & calibration — pressure, temperature, flow and level instruments, gauges, switches and calibration gear.
- Rotating equipment — pumps, motors, compressors, gear reducers and power transmission.
- Pneumatic & hydraulic tools — air tools, impact wrenches and controlled-bolting tools.
- Welding, cutting & pipe fabrication — plasma and cold cutting, welding systems, pipe threading and test/isolation plugs.
- Hand tools, abrasives & MRO — professional tools, measuring instruments, abrasives and consumables.
- Safety & PPE — gas and flame detection, respiratory and fall protection.
- Electrical & power — cables, switchgear, transformers, lighting and remote-site power.
Specification before supplier
The single biggest cause of bad quotes is a vague line item. Before you approach any supplier, lock down:
- Size and rating — e.g. 4-inch, ANSI Class 150.
- Material — e.g. stainless steel 316, carbon steel.
- Governing standard — API, ASME, ANSI, IEC, EN, ISO.
- Certification — material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1), NACE MR0175 for sour service, ATEX/IECEx for hazardous areas.
- Quantity, delivery location and required-by date.
A supplier that asks these questions back is doing its job; one that quotes without them is guessing.
Local stock vs. import sourcing
Two supply routes exist in Nigeria, and the right one is per-line, not per-order:
- Local stock wins on speed for commodities and consumables.
- Import sourcing wins on price and authenticity for specified, certified or OEM-specific equipment — but carries a defined paper trail (Form M, SONCAP, PAAR) and freight lead time. We cover that in detail in our guide on importing certified equipment into Nigeria.
The advantage of a supplier that runs both is simple: each line is quoted by whichever route lands cheapest, instead of forcing the whole basket through one channel.
Industries and where we deliver
Requirements differ by sector — see our pages for oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, power & utilities and marine & shipyard. We deliver nationwide, with service-area pages for Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Onne & the Niger Delta and Kano & Kaduna.
Run a clean RFQ
When you are ready to buy, send a line-item RFQ rather than a loose enquiry. List each item with its specification, quantity and required certification, and state your delivery location and date. You will get back a structured, comparable quotation — and a much shorter path to delivery.
Ready to source? Request a quote and our team will return Naira pricing per line.
