Oil & gas procurement in Nigeria has a higher bar than general industrial supply: equipment must meet the right standard, carry the right certificates, and clear customs cleanly. Get any of those wrong and the cost is measured in stuck cargo and failed inspections. This guide covers how to source it properly.
The standards that actually matter
For Nigerian oil & gas requisitions, certification is the specification. The recurring standards:
- API — e.g. API 6D vs API 600 for valves; also API for wellhead and pipeline equipment.
- ASME — pressure design and dimensional standards (e.g. B16.10, B16.34).
- NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 — sour-service materials for H₂S environments.
- ATEX / IECEx — electrical and electronic equipment in classified hazardous areas.
- EN 10204 3.1 — material test certificates with traceability.
A quote that does not state certification is incomplete. Always require it on the line.
What we supply
FirstSupply.ng supplies the core oil & gas equipment families:
- Valves & flow control — API-rated ball, gate, globe, control and relief valves.
- Instrumentation & calibration — pressure, temperature, flow and level instruments.
- Pneumatic & hydraulic tools — controlled-bolting and flange make-up tools.
- Welding, cutting & pipe fabrication — including expandable test and isolation plugs.
- Safety & PPE — gas and flame detection, respiratory and fall protection.
We also supply genuine OEM brands where authenticity is non-negotiable — see the brands we supply, including Hypertherm, EST Group, Hi-Force and TorcUP.
Vetting a supplier
Before you commit a PO, confirm the supplier can:
- Quote to specification and state certification per line.
- Prove authenticity for OEM-critical items (genuine make/model, not a substitute).
- Handle import compliance — Form M, SONCAP and PAAR — as importer-of-record if goods are sourced abroad. See our import guide.
- Deliver to site, including the Niger Delta and Onne.
Sourcing and import
Specified oil & gas equipment is frequently sourced internationally. The compliant sequence — open the Form M before shipping, certify under SONCAP, clear via PAAR — is what keeps cargo moving and avoids demurrage. Our procurement and import solutions cover sourcing, compliance and DDP delivery end to end.
